In January 2024, we unveiled a transformative office design that meets the intricate needs of financial traders and attracts top-tier talent for Headlands Technologies, a premier global quantitative trading firm.
Nestled high in a luxury high-rise on the 53 and 54th floor, this project epitomizes the intersection of innovation, elegance, and functionality. Through meticulous planning and collaboration with Garnett Architects, we crafted a cutting-edge workspace that not only meets the intricate needs of financial traders but also serves as a beacon for attracting top talent in the industry. This case study delves into the intricate details and visionary solutions that made this project a remarkable success.
The design vision centered on two core principles: providing an optimal environment for current team members and traders, and enhancing the firm’s appeal to prospective talent. These principles of “retain and recruit” were fundamental to all design decisions. The office boasts full-height windows offering 360-degree views, allowing for breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. A two-story foyer on the north side of the space features a creative water element, an internal winding staircase, and a fully stocked café and pantry available 24/7.
Meeting rooms are encapsulated in clear glass, creating an open yet private atmosphere. The color palette of black, white, grey, burnt orange, and natural wood complements the sleek, modern aesthetic. A living plant wall behind the reception desk and indoor trees bring a touch of nature into the workspace, fostering a serene and inviting environment. Workspaces are equipped with sleek black chairs and natural wood desks. Special attention was given to creating custom furniture for private offices, including enclosed printers, large height-adjustable desks, and stationary desks for guest seating.
Office Revolution collaborated closely with Teknion to design custom furniture for private offices. This included ensuring precise dimensions for cabinets with power and data cut-outs, and integrating pull-out drawers seamlessly into the design. A key component of the project was selecting the ideal trading desk and monitor arm solutions. After several iterations, Innovant products were chosen for their ability to support the complex electrical and data requirements of trading stations while maintaining a clean and light design.
Custom quartz tops were coordinated with millwork finishes, featuring edge-mounted power solutions to maintain a consistent look while meeting power and data requirements. Small conference rooms required height-adjustable desks and optimal monitor views, presenting a challenge for leg placement, which was skillfully resolved through collaboration with Teknion.
Integrating complex electrical and data requirements within height-adjustable trading stations while keeping a sleek design was an initial challenge. Working with Innovant, Office Revolution developed a solution that balanced form and function perfectly. Additionally, powering laptops discreetly with USB-C ports was achieved through a creative solution from Byrne.
The project’s success was greatly attributed to the vision and attention to detail of Alicia Perkovich at Garnett Architects. Her collaborative approach and meticulous planning ensured the project’s seamless execution, resulting in a stunning and functional workspace. The Headlands office project is a testament to Office Revolution’s commitment to excellence in creating luxurious, functional, and innovative workspaces. By blending cutting-edge design with practical solutions, Office Revolution delivered a workspace that not only meets the current needs of Headlands’ team members but also positions the firm as a desirable place to work for future talent.
